About Peru Trekking & Active Travel
Embark on a lifetime adventure by trekking in Peru. The classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is just the beginning, with many other thrilling routes. These include:
- Cordillera Blanca – Huaraz
- Colca Canyon – Arequipa
- Ausangate Trek
- Salkantay Trek (also spelled Salkcantay)
- Choquequirao Trek
- Inka Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu
It is essential to remember that trekking prices can vary significantly across different companies, and porters’ working conditions may also differ. Since pack animals are not allowed, human porters carry all equipment. Although there is a minimum wage for porters (PEN 42/day, approximately USD 15) and a maximum weight limit for their loads (25kg/55lb), not all companies follow these guidelines.
The country offers a variety of exhilarating sports, such as rafting, kayaking, biking, zip-lining, horseback riding, surfing, ATV, motocross, paragliding, canopy, canoeing, sandboarding, and more.
Another popular activity is visiting the wildlife in the Amazon Rainforest, which can also be considered an adrenaline sport as it involves spending time among wild animals.
