Great Britain is home to a splendid collection of religious buildings, but none are more impressive than the cathedrals. Cathedrals are one of the largest draws for visitors.
The Canadian Anglican Heritage Pilgrimage Tour was created to connect people and to foster understanding of a shared past and present-day society. While some might visit religious heritage sites because of their religious beliefs or their search for spiritual fulfilment, others are interested in the cultural and historical significance. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Robert at Total Advantage Travel & Tours, Inc.

Uniquely, it combines a royal castle and cathedral within an Iron Age fortification, and for 150 years was a major centre of both secular and ecclesiastical government. Neither castle nor cathedral was occupied for long. And, in 1226 the cathedral was moved to Salisbury, although the castle remained an administrative centre into the 14th century. Old Sarum lived on, however, as a notorious ârotten boroughâ which continued to elect members of Parliament until 1832.

The first monument was an early henge monument, built about 5,000 years ago, and the unique stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period about 2500 BC. In the early Bronze Age many burial mounds were built nearby and today, Stonehenge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Please liaise with the driver and your guide, Rosemary, to arrange a convenient time for pick up and drop off as required. If you would prefer to make your way to and from the Cathedral independently, there is also a local bus which provides a âSteep Hill Shuttleâ service available.
